Socio-Economic Impact Study for the Fishing Port of Cotonou (Benin) by Antea Group Belgium, Antea Group Benin and Antea Group France

Fishing Port of CotonouWithin the framework of its Program of Action, covering the period 2016-2021, the Government of Benin is planning to revitalize the port sector in order to make it one of the strategic sectors for the revival of the country's economic growth and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by 2030. Thus, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Works and the Port of Cotonou have developed a broad program of actions including the relocation and reorganization of the geographical area around the fishing port.

The Belgian Development Agency (Enabel) has undertaken to support the Beninese Government in the implementation of these action programs through funding.

The present project concerns the carrying out of the socio-economic impact study of the relocation and reorganization of the geographical area around the fishing port. The fishing port is in the area of the Autonomous Port of Cotonou. However, it is envisaged to carry out works in the port area. Within this framework, a potential repositioning of all the stakeholders around the fishing port is envisaged. In other words, the geographical area around the fishing port will have to be relocated and reorganized.
